Posted March 01, 2019 05:08:06A wooden train that is about to be put up on a chain-link fence outside a Petco store in Petrolia, Texas, could soon be coming home.
The Woodman Train Set was built in 1998 by former Petco employee and now owner Mike Karp.
He says it’s a classic piece of wood that’s been used in petco since its opening.
Karp says he started putting up the train set in his home, where he also runs a construction business, when he started to lose weight.
He said he would often have to spend more money on fuel to keep up with the daily maintenance he needed to keep the train running.
“I’m a really good cook, and I’m always looking for ways to save money, so I got a wooden box and just used it to build a little wood train set that I can use,” Karp said.
A few years later, he decided to put up the wood train for free.
“So now we have a little piece of real wood that is really nice to have, so it is kind of a unique thing,” he said.
Kars owner says he can use the wood as a platform for his business, the Woodman Dog Training.
Petco plans to put the train up at the store at some point in the future.
