A training center for the National Rifle Association is paying $5,000 a month for the privilege of training its members, according to a recent report from The Washington Post.
The training center is also giving its employees a full-time job.
The NRA’s training academy is the largest of its kind in the country, with more than 100,000 people enrolled, according the report.
The facility includes classrooms, offices and a gun range.
The NRA has long held the gun rights organization responsible for the spread of gun violence in the U.S., but the organization is increasingly shifting its focus to fighting global pandemics.
The center has been open for just over a year, according a spokesperson for the NRA.
The group has not provided any specifics about the location of the training facility.
The spokeswoman said the facility would be used to provide training to “specialists” such as law enforcement and first responders.
The spokesperson added that the training academy has been operating under strict security protocols.
The training academy, located in the city of Fort Worth, Texas, is part of the NRA’s sprawling organization.
According to The Washington Free Beacon, it was the largest training facility in the world until it was shut down by the government in 2014 after a gunman killed 58 people in a church in Charleston, South Carolina.
In a statement to the Post, the NRA said that it is aware of the report and is looking into it.
“The NRA strongly condemns the reports that the Fort Worth facility is being used to train firearms instructors,” the NRA stated.
“We are working with the city to ensure that the information is accurate and correct.
As always, we will provide all of our training facilities with the utmost of security, including a full, safe, and sound operation.”
The Post noted that while the training center was not named in the report, the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, police department said that “training classes” were taking place there.
