A man who was charged with driving under the influence after allegedly smashing a car into a utility pole in a Northeast Portland neighborhood is facing felony charges.
The man, whose name has not been released, faces multiple charges, including two counts of malicious destruction of property and one count of operating while intoxicated, police said.
The crash happened about 8:30 p.m.
Sunday on Southeast Fourth Avenue, just south of the intersection of Southeast 13th Street and Southwest 12th Avenue, Portland police said in a news release.
Witnesses told police that they saw the driver of the silver Honda sedan hit a pole, then a car, before he sped away, police Sgt. Pete Simpson said.
The driver was arrested in the 400 block of Southeast 8th Avenue.
The driver and the vehicle were both totaled, police did not say.
Simpson said detectives had a number of tips, but did not elaborate.
